On several occasions, I’ve woken up on a Sunday morning determined that I would finally take a trip to Columbia Road Flower Market and flood myself with the lush selection of flowers the market has to offer, however, something always crops up on me and I have to postpone my mini excursion to another Sunday. Not last Sunday; I was adamant to replace the two week old wilting roses sitting on the coffee table with fresh blooms so that’s exactly what I did!

On a normal day, Columbia Road is lined with dainty independent stores and each Sunday, the street is tightly packed with countless stalls of specialist flower and foliage sellers. With locals and tourists flocking in, it can be a shuffle to get through the market but the distinct market vibe with the enchanting scent of freshly cut flowers densely filling the air makes the experience all worthwhile! And to top it off, I picked up a couple of bunches of peonies!

It was a gloomy Sunday morning last week and rain was forecasted for much of the day so I pulled this outfit together: a black denim mini skirt with a simple grey t-shirt tucked in, contrasting boots and a cropped bomber jacket for outerwear.

I’ve been on the hunt for a black denim skirt for a while so when I saw this one on the Topshop website, I had to order it. It’s a versatile piece that can be paired with almost any top in all seasons, all year round!
